Women Entrepreneurs

Young Women Social Entrepreneurs
YWSE serves women with a socially conscious agenda who are founders and leaders within businesses, non-profits, and government organizations. We use ‘young’ to describe our target audience of women who are ‘young’ in their ventures – professionals in development stages of any aspect of their entrepreneurial careers – i.e. everyone is welcome! Hundreds of women are currently participating in the network.

Retreat Centers

Bali Institute for Global Renewal

Bali Institute for Global Renewal is the first world learning center that engages multicultural leadership and facilitation training, deep dialogue, indigenous wisdom, global consciousness, intergenerational activism and other action-oriented skills and training that empowers individuals, groups and organizations in their quest to make a difference in the world. BIGR includes a consortium of international organizations, corporations, NGOs, universities, thought leaders and consultants who are invested in advancing new forms of leadership training, intergenerational collaboration, nonviolent conflict resolution and social activism as part of a worldview that promotes a sustainable, humane and culturally-diverse life for all.

Plum Village, Southern France

Imagine meditating with Zen teacher, poet and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh in the French countryside surrounded by plum trees and an international community.

The Esalen Institute.

An amazing retreat center in the heart of Big Sur. Once the home of the peaceful Esselen tribe, it now offers workshops and nothing beats the healing hot tubs overlooking the ocean, soulful movement classes, strolling in the beautiful garden, and of course eating the organic produce and gourmet meals.

Green Gulch Zen Farm

Green Gulch Farm is located in Marin County, just north of San Francisco, in a valley that opens out onto the Pacific Ocean (and thankfully I live close to it!). There are many ways to stay here, such as being a Guest Practice Retreatant where you can stay in their guest facilities, join Zen residents in early morning meditation and work with the community until noon, with afternoons and evenings free. This is a good way to combine a private retreat with participation in the life and practice of the community. Green Gulch is also a beautiful place to visit on a Sunday where they offer a program of meditation, tea, dharma talk, and an amazing organic lunch!

Tassajara

It’s a long windy road to the top of the mountain, but it’s definitely worth the journey. Tassajara is located in a remote part of the Ventana Wilderness and for centuries has been visited as a place of healing. The native Esselen people were the first to soak in the natural hot springs of Tassajara and to believe in the healing and restorative properties of the water.

The Matrix Leadership Institute

Trainings

The Matrix Experience uses a remarkably different paradigm to enhance communication and connection in any group by presenting a map for transforming individuals, relationships and groups into truly interconnected, living systems.

This creates highly inclusive groups, where every person is essential. As a coach and group facilitator, the Matrix Model has helped me more deeply understand group dynamics and how to create community. It also helped me to deepen my engagement as a social artist committed to making a difference in the world.

Media

New Dimensions Media

Justine and Michael are extraordinary people and the founders of New Dimensions Media. They are changing the world one broadcast at a time by engaging in dialogue with the world’s leading-edge thinkers, social architects, creative artists, scientists and spiritual teachers. Michael’s legendary dialogues with such luminaries as mythologist Joseph Campbell, visionary inventor Buckminster Fuller, writer/activist Alice Walker, playwright Peter Brook, the Dalai Lama, poet/author Robert Bly, philosopher Jean Houston, poet/author Maya Angelou and many others, have brought wide acclaim to the “New Dimensions” radio series and have helped to bring innovative ideas into the mainstream culture. I’d also recommend their book, True Work: The Sacred Dimension of Earning a Living.
